Add a watermark to a PDF

Stamp DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, your name or your logo across the pages of a PDF. Adjust it with a live preview, then download the watermarked PDF.

Runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device.

How to use it

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Type the watermark text or choose an image, then set size, colour, opacity, angle and whether it repeats across the page.
  3. Check the preview and press “Add watermark”.

Text or image watermarks

A text watermark is drawn as real PDF text in bold, so it stays sharp at any zoom. Text in scripts the standard PDF fonts don't cover, like Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic or Chinese, is drawn as an image instead. An image watermark can be any PNG or JPG; a PNG with a transparent background works best for logos.

Over or behind the content

Over the content, the watermark is always visible, which is what you want for DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL; keep the opacity low so the text underneath stays readable. Behind the content looks cleaner on text documents but disappears on pages that are one big image, such as scans.

FAQ

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Type the pages, like 1-3, 8, in the Pages box. Leave it empty to watermark every page.

Can the watermark be removed?

A watermark added to a PDF is a separate piece of the page, so a determined person with the right tool can take it off. To make it much harder, add the watermark and then save the pages as images with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is added in your browser.
