Extract text from a PDF in the right order
Text is read in the order it's stored in the PDF, with line breaks where the lines end and a blank line between pages. For most documents that's reading order; with columns, tables or text boxes, some lines may come out in a different order than they appear.
Scanned PDFs
A scanned PDF is a set of pictures of pages, with no text inside it to extract. When that's the case, the tool says so instead of returning an empty file.

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The text is read by pdf.js inside your browser.
Does it keep formatting?
No, the result is plain text: no fonts, bold or tables, just the words and line breaks.
