How to use it

What this PDF watermark remover finds

Watermarks are usually added as their own piece of the page, on top of or behind the content, and that's what it looks for: text such as DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or “Created with…”, logos and stamps repeated on every page, the watermark layers Acrobat and Word create, and watermark annotations.

Items that look like watermarks (tilted, see-through, or carrying words like “sample” or “evaluation”) are ticked for you. Things that simply repeat on every page, such as a header or footer, are listed too but left unticked, so you decide.

When a watermark can't be removed

If the watermark is part of a scanned page or was flattened into an image, there's no separate object to take away: the watermark and the page are the same pixels. The tool will tell you when it finds nothing it can lift off.

Use it on your own documents

Remove watermarks from files you created or have the right to change, such as your own draft marked CONFIDENTIAL or a document whose trial watermark you've since paid to remove. Watermarks on someone else's work are often there to protect their copyright.

FAQ

Does removing the watermark change the rest of the page?

No. Only the ticked items are cut out; the text, images and layout around them are kept as they were, and text stays selectable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is found and removed by code running in this page.

The watermark is still there. What now?

Try ticking the other items in the list and check the preview. If nothing in the list matches it, the watermark is most likely part of an image on the page.
